Another couple of the Aceos I've painted recently :) The first one is fairly random but the second is based on where we live - next to farmland with sheep. Our black cat is also there keeping watch from the garage roof lol.

Hello again after a bit of a long break :) 

As usual, christmas was a little manic and stressful  but on the positive side, I tend to paint a lot when I'm stressed so I have a whole lot of Aceos I've painted and not had chance to scan and post. They're pretty basic - no fancy themes just a bit of fun and relaxation. I'll post them a couple at a time over the next week or so.

I made these for a good friend of mine who loves macintosh Roses. They'll be part of her Christmas gift. 

Over the past week or so I have made a few bookmarks, keyrings and magnets but they were all for Christmas gifts and ( barring these ones )  I managed to have them all wrapped up before I remembered I was supposed to scan them. *sigh*

This one is for my lovely mum who, while I was visiting over the summer, asked me why I hadn't tried star wars as an Aceo Theme. So, as it's her birthday next week, I drew this one up to use as the image for her birthday card. It's my Aceo version of Star Wars episode 4 ( a new hope ). I'll probably get around to doing episodes 5 and 6 at some point - not sure about the newer ones as I don't like them as much as the originals ;)

Am in a bit of an artistic slump at the moment, finding it hard to get inspiration for some reason. As a way of getting myself out of this artist's block I decided to start making a card based around each letter of the alphabet. Not sure how far I'll get before I get distracted by other ideas but here is my first design - A is for... Aladdin :)

A new digistamp design I made for Halloween. It's been up on my digistamp sales page for a while but only just gotten around to posting it here. Also I've included my attempt at colouring it and making a Halloween card. Probably looks totally amature to those card makers among you but I don't think it's too bad for a first attempt :)

The theme of one of my facebook aceo groups this month is Sugar Skulls so I played about with one of my designs from the last post. I'd forgotten how much I like candy skull/day of the dead art. Will definately try out some more designs.

This is another one that I doodled while we werew away on holiday at the caravan, then painted up when I got home. I have been working on a lot more keyrings and bookmarks/magnets over the past few weeks as we were booked up to do a car boot sale. Some are repeats of previous designs, a few are new but it'll be a while before I get around to scanning them.

School starts again next Thursday so there should be lots more time for painting and blogging. :)

Fairground art

It's been a while, I know - sorry about that :(  I have been working hard though :)

My items have been accepted at the knitting shop in town and the owner says that as I'm not taking up much table space, instead of charging me £5 a week she'll take 10% commission from any sales.

It's been just over a week now so I think I'll leave it a few more days and then pop in to see how sales are going. In the meantime I've been working on some more bookmarks and magnets ( I've run out of keyrings atm, will have to order some more blanks )

These two were inspired by a trip to a vintage fairground that I went on with my son's class on a school trip as a volunteer. The artwork on all the old rides ( especially the fairground horses ) was lovely :)

We had a lovely holiday up in sunny wales but it's always nice to be home again :) 

I've done a few more keyrings as now I'm back home I'll be checking out how to go about hiring table space at that shop in town. Hopefully things like keyrings, bookmarks and fridge magnets may sell well to tourists in our little Cornish town - I'll keep my Aceos for e-bay :)

This will be my last post for a couple of weeks as we are off on holiday to sunny(?) Wales to see my family tomorrow :)

This picture was developed up from a doodle I made for face practice, and kind of got a bit carried away (as usual). My other half said that she looked like she should be black, but once I finished her I think she looks more Indian than African. Oh well, she's pretty wherever she's from :)

Some more good news on the art front - I saw a knitting shop in town the other day had a sign in the shop window offering table space to rent for anyone who wanted to sell handmade items. I thought maybe that only meant knitted or sewn items but the shop lady told me it means anything at all as long as it's handmade. It will have to wait until we're back from holiday now but I have a good few key-rings, bookmarks and magnets by now so I'll be renting a table for a week or two to see how it goes.

 Thinking about trying to make some along the lines of  the laminated pendant I made - laminating an image, punching a hole and attaching a cord/clip or ring of some sort. More experimenting is in order after we get back from our holiday I think.

It's been a bit of a slow week this week - I am looking forward to going off on holiday to see my family in Wales next weekend so my mind isn't really on painting :) 

I have done a few things though. these two are sort of experimental - I wanted to try making jewellery using laminated designs.

The first is a pendant/necklace made using a laminated image and a few beads. I threaded them onto a shoelace as I didn't really want to buy any proper supplies in until I found out if I could make it work or not. Still needs some work ( and a mini hole puncher for the pendant ) I think.

The second is a metal hair barrette with a laminated image attached with glue. pretty pleased with how this one turned out :)

Whimsical Alice

Two new designs for you today :) 

The first is my latest aceo painting which is based on Alice in Wonderland. Slightly wacky but that's the point - it's a pretty wacky story lol. I like the way it turned out I think - bright and fun.

The second is a new design for my digistamp blog/site. As it's getting near to July 4th - I drew a "Little Liberty" for any crafters in the good old U.S of A :)

Unfortunately we have all been ill over the last few days :( 

Had a nasty 24 hour tummy bug that went though all 3 of us, starting with our son being sent home from school sick last Wednesday - so not much painting has been done for a bit. This is the last image I have scanned in from my recent work but hopefully I'll be able to get started again today with some more stuff - now that the little man is back in school and everyone is feeling more or less human again :)

This one was ( sort of ) inspired by my dad. He likes meerkats so I made him a meerkat keyring as part of his Father's day present - which I unfortunately forgot to scan before I posted it :( 

Anyways, it worked out pretty well so I used it as a theme for an aceo :)

Ok, like I said, trying out a few things with a view to one day selling at craft fairs. This one is larger - painted image is 6ins x 8 ins with a 1ins border making the total size 10in x 8in. Attempt number one at a painting for a children's room. I'll probably try a few more to see how it goes.

I've been working on these for a while, since I started thinking of maybe selling at crafts fairs. They're pretty easy and quick to do and I think they look pretty cool :) 

No idea if they'd sell or not but they kept me busy for a while at least ;)

The paintings are passport photo size - 45mm x 35mm
